India considers mandatory use of recycled ferrous scrap in auto production
The policy is being piloted by the ministry of environment, forests and climate change (MoEFCC) in consultation with the automobile industry, and covers both commercial and passenger car manufacturers.They said that, as per the broad contours currently under consideration, automobile manufacturers would be mandated to use a minimum of 20 percent of metal from scrapped vehicle by 2026-27 for production of new vehicles and 30 percent by 2028-29.It has been estimated that currently there are 330 million registered vehicles across the country and three million are being added every year.Under the draft policy, each manufacturer will be required to meet EPR obligations including setting up collection centers for ‘end-of-life’ vehicles, their own or authorized scrapping facilities, and procure EPR certificates equivalent in kilograms of ferrous metal and scrap generated.

JSW Steel, Japan's JFE to set up JV for manufacturing of CRGO steel
JFE Steel Corporation (JFE) is also an existing shareholder in JSW Steel.New Delhi: Home-grown JSW Steel and JFE Steel Corporation of Japan have partnered to set up a joint venture (JV) company in India for manufacturing of CRGO steel.CRGO steel is a critical input for the manufacturing of transformers which is key for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to end-users.The Japanese firm owns 15 per cent in JSW Steel." Indian passenger car makers report positive sales growth in July, pace of rise eases
