IIHR sets up a seed testing facility with HAL’s support
The new HAL-ICAR-IIHR seed production centre will augment the existing processing infrastructure for timely processing of seeds.It will enhance the availability of large quantity of quality seeds of ICAR-IIHR bred vegetable and flower crop varieties/hybrids.Further, ICAR will collaborate with the private sector and subsequently, work on joint projects in the areas of research, education and extension projects.HAL has provided funding support for the new seed processing unit under its CSR mandate.The new facility will house an automated seed coating unit, seed dryer and colour sorters, automatic pouch filling machines among others.

Construction of track works begins on MAHSR Corridor
The laying of track works have been initiated for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor with the start of the construction of the first reinforced concrete (RC) track bed in Surat.The track system comprises pre-cast track slabs which support fastening devices and rails, with around 300 mm thickness, and is constructed in-situ for both up and down track lines on viaduct tops, with a width of 2,420 mm.In material procurement, activity is underway and over 14,000 MT of JIS rails and 50 molds for casting track slabs have already been delivered.Inspired by Japanese Shinkansen, the project has introduced the J-slab ballastless track system in India.The RC anchors of 520 mm diameter and 260 mm height are provided to maintain precise alignment for train operations at speeds of up to 320 kmph.

Nestlé India expands portfolio with millets-based category
The company has introduced a+ masala millets containing bajra in NCR and online, and has plans for scaling-up in future.The a+ Masala Millet in two variants are being piloted in Delhi-NCR and will be offered across other regions in the coming months.Nestle India has entered into the millets-based ready-to-make (RTM) market by positioning it under its nutrition brand a+ in the category, thus expanding its portfolio.Under a+, Nestle India currently offers greek yoghurt, milk, and others.The product has been developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) with Indian Millet Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), and supports the government initiative to promote millet as a sustainable food item.

Govt extends textile PLI application date till 31 October
The scheme has two parts.In Part-1 of the PLI scheme, the minimum investment is Rs 300 crore and the minimum turnover required to be achieved for incentive is Rs 600 crore while in Part-2, the minimum investment should be Rs 100 crore and the minimum turnover is Rs 200 crore.The textiles ministry had approved 64 applications under the Rs 19,798 crore scheme last year.The scheme promotes and cover the manufacturing of man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics and products of technical textiles.Earlier, the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) had reopened the PLI scheme portal in July till 31 August, 2023.

Genus Power receives LoA for oder worth Rs 2,247.37 cr
The government seeks to install 250 million smart meters in all households across the country to enhance the efficiency of the power sector, under the scheme.The order worth Rs 2,247.18 lakh smart prepaid meters, system meters, including OT meters.Further, it will be implemented under the revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS).Genus Power Infrastructures (GPIL) has won a contract and received a letter of award (LoA) for the same to supply smart meters.
