The report will be sent to the Cabinet for approval at the earliest.Besides, the the power utility firm is planning expansion of the existing Meja thermal plant in Prayagraj district by adding two units of 800 MW each to the plant.The state Cabinet has already cleared the proposal for setting up 1,600 MW Obra D thermal power plant, in a JV with the UPRVUNL.The proposed plant comprising two units of 800 MW each is expected to be ready for operations in the next five to six years.NTPC will set up a new thermal plant in Uttar Pradesh in a joint venture (JV) with the UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL), as well as expand the capacity of an existing plant.
